Alton College Bands
Alton College Music Department supports three jazz bands; the legendary ACJB, the Big band and the specialist jazz course The Jazz Factory.
This year's Alton College Jazz Band started off where last year's left off - with even more Mingus. One of our aims this year is to play a good chunk of Mingus' last great work Epitaph. With three phat sounding trombones and four not quite so phat tenor saxes, the band are starting to develop a very 'in yer face' sound. This year's Big Band have added a new twist to Chick Corea's classic Spain and developing a stylish feel to Goodbye Pork Pie Hat. And once again saxophonist Mick Foster is weaving his magic with The Jazz Factory.
