Back Door Too
Colin Hodgkinson (eb) Rod Mason (saxes) Paul Robinson (d)
For more than 35 years, Colin Hodgkinson has been regarded as one of the world’s finest bassists, having made his name in the early 70’s with the jazz-rock trio Back Door. Since then, he has worked closely with Alexis Korner, Jan Hammer, R&B allstars, Peter Maffay, and more recently, Chris Rea.
Colin is the sole surviving member of the original trio, but the original band’s reputation was in part built on Colin’s remarkable technique and compositions. The first Back Door album was originally released in 1972 and recently voted one of the top 20 jazz-rock albums of all time.
In 2007 this new line up recorded a new CD under the name of Colin Hodgkinsons Back Door Too. This band is not an exercise in nostalgia but an exciting new beginning, with a brilliant percussionist and great saxophonist perfectly complementing Colin and the unique Back Door sound. Paul Robinson played for many years with Nina Simone.
