Allan Bradley (t) Dave Hewett (tr) Ron Drake (reeds) JJ Vinten (p) Tony Pitt (bjo, g) Pete Skivington (b) Laurie Chescoe (d)
Laurie has reformed the band that was often described as ‘the best Dixieland band since the great Alex Welsh band’ Three members played in Alex’s band – Chescoe, Peter Skiv and Tony Pitt. The others have backgrounds in leading bands, including Acker Bilk and Kenny Ball. Chescoe himself also played with Monty Sunshine, Dick Charlesworth and and Bruce Turner’s Jump Band, as well as being a co-founder of the Midnite Follies Orchestra.
The band plays its first major gig before embarking on a tour of most of the major traditional jazz venues in the autumn.
Val Wiseman is probably the best and most experienced singer in classic Dixieland and swing styles on the British jazz scene.
