Judy Eames Jazz Revellers

Judy Eames (voc) Tony Davis (t)  Mike Wills (reeds) Tony Davis (t) Mike Wills (reeds) Isabel Toner (b)

Judy is best known for her work with the Big Bear Stompers, but here she leads her own band, singing blues, ballads and standards in her warm contralto, with a line-up more usually known as the Kaminsky 4.

Judy Eames was “rescued” from her life as a choral singer nearly 20 years ago when Dave Moorwood invited her to join.his Big Bear Stompers and is proud still to be a member of this fine band. Her partnership with trumpeter Tony Davis began in 1997, since when they have worked together in small groups as well as with the Big Bears and with Harlem, the jazz orchestra led by Paul Munnery.

Through regular visits to the USA Jude and Tony have forged links with many American musicians, notably the Californian band Cell Block 7, with whom they appeared in San Diego California, Mesa Arizona and of course Sacramento. Tracks from their CDs have been played on the Chicago-based radio programme, the Original Big Band Showcase, hosted by Denny Farrell, Their most recent trip, in Oct 2009, was to Kalispell, Montana, where they were guests with the Rocky Mountain Rhythm Kings and Montana Lite.

Jude and Tony formed the "Jazz Revellers" in 1998 to give an airing to some of the risqué songs of the 20s and 30s and also to re-introduce some tunes which have been unaccountably neglected.

The “core” instrumentalists of the group are Tony Davis, Isabel Toner and the irrepressible Malcolm Hogarth who can be relied on for some revelry and a boogie-woogie number or two. They are delighted to be joined by the fine reed player Mike Wills, a guest who has played with them on many occasions; notably at the Bohém Ragtime Festival in Kecskemét, Hungary in 2006
