Henry Armburg Jennings started playing trumpet (and piano) at the age of 5 and fifteen years later, at the age of only 20, he is already one of the hottest talents to emerge on the British jazz scene having opened the London Jazz Festival 2008 at the Bulls Head in Barnes and was a finalist in the Worshipful Company of Musician’s ‘Young jazz musician of the year’ competition.
His CV already includes venues such as Ronnie Scotts, the Royal Albert Hall, the Jazz Café, the 606 Club and the 100 Club (to name but a few) and musicians such as Sir John Dankworth and Cleo Laine, Jim Mullen, Peter King, Bobby Wellins, Martin Drew (drummer with Oscar Peterson for 30 years), Dave Green and Clark Tracey.
Having lived in New York for two months in 2008, Henry received lessons from some of the finest jazz trumpet players in the world including Joe Magnarelli, Jeremy Pelt, John Swana and John Mcneil whose CVs are endless.
Henry’s quintet features some of the most in-demand jazz musicians in the country today and the band has been gigging regularly around Britain’s jazz clubs and festivals since it was formed in 2007. The Henry Armburg Jennings Quintet has already launched their first record entitled ‘Out Of The Starting Blocks’ at a special session at Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club in March 2008.
