John Wurr
John is an old friend of the festival – he was here in year 1, with Campbell Burnap, Dave Brennan and Alan Barnes.
In over 50 years of performance, John has played with musicians as different in style as Ken Colyer, George Chisholm and Georgie Fame, as well as working with many visiting American musicians, such as Wild Bill Davison, Billy Butterfield and Yank Lawson.He was Ken Colyer’s band for three years in the 1970s. In recent years he has made solo appearances with a vast range of musicians and contexts – festivals, clubs, theatres and jazz holidays throughout the UK and Europe. He’s at home in every style from New Orleans to mainstream.
