Enrico Tomasso
Enrico started playing the trumpet at the age of five. His father, jazz clarinettist Ernie Tomasso, nurtured and encouraged the inherent talent and gave him every opportunity to hear and meet many jazz greats such as Benny Goodman, Roy Eldridge, Oscar Peterson, Buddy Rich, Dizzy Gillespie, the Basie and Ellington Bands and many others. His biggest inspiration was Louis Armstrong who he met and played for during Louis’ visit to England in 1968.
Enrico is considered one of the top jazz trumpeters on the jazz scene and has just won best trumpet category in the British Jazz Awards. He has busy studio career, including work with Bryan Ferry, Claire Teal and John Altman’s film music. His command of the instrument and stylistic invention places him amongst the best. Some recent affiliations are with Scott Hamilton, John Dankworth, Marty Gross, Warren Vache, Dan Barrett, Ken Peplowski, Bucky Pizzarelli, John Barnes, Acker Bilk, Keith Nichols, Pizza Express All Stars, Alex Welsh Remembered, Ray Gelato Giants, Echoes Of Ellington. He has recently recorded his first solo CD with Roy Williams, Allan Ganley, Dave Green, John Pearce, Alan Barnes, Alex Garnett and Craig Milverton.
