Sam Leak Trio
Sam Leak (p) James Opstad (b) David Hamblett (d)
The Sam Leak Trio formed in the Autumn of 2007 and have since gained gigs at a host of venues including the 606 Club, Charlie Wrights, Olivers (with Jim Hart), and The Others. They are already beginning to make their mark on the London Jazz Scene, and are currently preparing to record an album to be produced by pianist Tom Cawley. They play original music composed by every member. All three members are current students at the Royal Academy Of Music.
Sam also runs a new group 'Aquarium' with James Allsopp, Josh Blackmore and Calum Gourlay. He has performed widely throughout the UK, has supported Benny Golson at Ronnie Scott’s, and played at the 2008 Glastonbury Music Festival. Recently he performed with US bass virtuoso Janek Gwizdala (Mike Stern, Randy Brecker) and performed a piano duet with John Taylor as part of Stan Sultzman's birthday Big Band concert. Sam is a current student at the Royal Academy of Music, studying under Gwilym Simcock (Jazz) and Pascal Nemirovski (Classical).
